BSc Oral Health Science 2015 (Manc)
GDC Registration Number: 258449
Originally from Cheshire, I qualified from Manchester School of Dentistry in 2015 as a Dental Therapist with a degree in Oral Health Science. I chose dentistry because I wanted a career that would have a benefit to other people. I shadowed a dental therapist at my local practice and decided it was the career for me. Dental Therapists train alongside dentists for 3 years at dental school and are an important part of the dental team. Some of the treatment provided by dental therapists include the restoration of adult/baby teeth with fillings, provide gum treatment (dental hygiene), apply topical fluoride, apply fissure sealants, extract baby teeth and take radiographs (X-Rays) amongst others.
I enjoy dentistry as I enjoy meeting and getting to know patients and help them to improve their oral health. I find it very rewarding to see patients who have improved gum health and healthy teeth. I am interested in all things dental but if I had to pick the best part this would be periodontal treatment and pediatric dentistry. I am a firm believer of continued learning to help improve myself. I enjoy gaining new knowledge from attending dental courses and seminars.
Outside of dentistry I enjoy traveling and once visited the great pyramid of Giza and Sphinx in Egypt. I also enjoy photography, art, music and anything science related.
