Dr Puthri Raphy qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree in 2004. She held senior house officer positions in Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry and Oral Surgery for the next 3 years. Following her tenure as Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Coventry and Warwickshire, she was awarded the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons, England in 2008. Subsequent to this, along with her husband Dr Raphy Paul, she set up the St Raphael’s Dental Practice in 2009. She continued her training in Management and Restorative dentistry and completed Advanced Certificate in Management and Certificates in Restorative Dentistry in 2010 and 2011.
Over the next 3 years she worked in secondary and tertiary (hospital) care settings concentrating on Oral surgery, Paediatric dentistry, Special care dentistry, in preparation for her specialist training. During this time she also worked in general dental practice on a part-time basis.
In 2014, Puthri undertook her full time 3 years specialist training in Orthodontics at the University of Liverpool. She received one to one training and attended several courses by some of the best teachers in orthodontics. She passed her exams and was awarded Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons (MOrth RCS Edinburgh), Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Surgeons at England (MOrth RCS England), qualifying as a specialist in Orthodontics. In 2017, Puthri gained her Doctorate of Dental Sciences degree (DDSc Orthodontics) at Liverpool University supported by her thesis “Use of QLF-DTM as an oral hygiene evaluation tool in Orthodontics”. She presented her research at the European Organisation of Caries Research at Oslo and the 2017 British Orthodontic Conference in Manchester.
