Practice Policies

Payment Policy

Please see below the policy relating to the taking of payments for NHS and Private dental treatment at St Raphael’s Dental Practice.

  • It is our practice policy to give patients full information about the cost of their dental work before any treatment is undertaken. A list and explanation of NHS charges and our private fees are provided within the waiting area and on our practice website.
  • A written estimate and treatment plan will be provided for all patients requiring further dental treatment during the examination appointment
  • We offer patients a range of payment options, depending on their needs including finance options that can be discussed with our treatment coordinator.
  • You may pay for your dental care by cash, or credit/debit card. Please ask our receptionist for further information if you are unsure of our practice payment policy.
  • We try to make payment as straightforward as possible.
  • Our normal policy for taking payments is that private patients are asked to pay a proportion of the total fees at each visit and may be asked to pay a deposit prior to the commencement of treatment and the balance by completion
  • For all NHS dental treatment patients will be asked to pay as each NHS charge band is completed and the full balance by the day of completion of treatment before being seen by the dentist.

Parking

Patients are kindly asked to please consider the needs of local residents when parking on the road side and leave sufficient space for prams and wheelchair users.

Prescriptions

Under current clinical regulations patients requesting prescriptions for pain relief and anti-biotics will need an face to face assessment carried out by a dentist.  We are also unable to provide patients with repeat prescriptions.  Patients requiring prescribed high concentration fluoride toothpaste must also be assessed by a dentist as we are unable to provide repeat prescriptions for toothpaste.

Appointment times

As a dental practice we always endeavour to keep to set appointment times but some dental care procedures can be complex in nature and often difficult to predict the required treatment times for each individual patient.  We ask that you allow at least 1 hour after your appointment completion time before you make any other appointments or commitments.

Dental Recalls

We aim to remind patients when they are due for a routine oral health assessment, however it is the responsibility of the patient to ensure they contact the practice to arrange a routine appointment at the recommended intervals as we may not sent any further recall reminders.

Missed Appointments

If a patient fails to attend 2 dental appointments within a two year period or cancels two dental    appointments providing less than 24 hours notice we will be unable to see them again at this dental practice under current NHS GDS regulations.

Cold Sore and Flu

If you have arranged a dental appointment and are suffering from common cold, flu or notice cold sores we suggest that you contact the practice to rearrange any non emergency dental  care to    prevent the risk of infection spreading.

Privacy

Please inform our staff if you wish to have a private discussion with any member of our dental team and this can be arranged in a private room.

Changes in details

If you have recently moved or changed your contact details e.g. phone number, email etc. then please ensure you inform our reception team as any correspondence will be sent to the details we hold for your on our IT systems.

The charge for missed dental appointments will be £15.00 per 15 minuets  of the allocated dental appointment time, patients will not be booked any further appointments until this charge is paid.
